Weave - Waffle piqué
Waffle piqué is the quality for designs that are intended to look textured, breathable, and pleasantly summery. Many designers choose waffle piqué because the characteristic waffle pattern creates an appealing surface, lets air circulate, and offers both fashionable and functional looks. Ideal if you are looking for a light, textured fabric for tops, dresses, bathrobes, or home textiles. (More...)
Waffle piqué is a woven or knitted fabric with a characteristic waffle or honeycomb pattern created by a special weave. Depending on how it is processed, it can appear fine and even, strongly textured, or soft and cuddly, for example as cotton waffle piqué, waffle jersey, or terry waffle. Materials such as cotton, linen, viscose, or blended fabrics are often used.
Typical fabric types:
- Cotton waffle piqué
- Waffle jersey
- Waffle piqué linen blend
- Terry waffle piqué
- Printed and solid waffle piqué
Important properties:
Waffle piqué is light, breathable, and very absorbent due to its honeycomb structure. Depending on the quality, it looks sporty, elegant, or cozy and is suitable for summer tops, dresses, bathrobes, towels, baby clothes, and home textiles. The textured surface adds visual depth and a pleasant feel.
Care instructions:
Waffle piqué is usually easy to care for and tolerates a gentle wash cycle at 30 to 60 degrees, depending on the material composition. Pure cotton can even be boiled; more delicate blends should be washed more gently. Iron at medium setting and use a dryer only for robust qualities.
