Use - Top
Top fabrics are the quality choice for designs that are meant to look light, feminine, and pleasantly wearable. Many designers opt for top fabrics because they feel soft on the skin, drape beautifully, and can be used safely for both sporty and elegant tops. Ideal if you're looking for light, versatile materials for tank tops, spaghetti straps, bandeau or summer tops. (More...)
Top fabrics are usually lightweight jersey, woven or lace qualities that impress with their soft drape, pleasant wearing comfort, and good workability. Depending on the type of fabric, they appear athletically elastic, fluidly elegant, or festively refined, for example as viscose jersey, modal, crêpe, satin, or lace. Materials such as cotton, viscose, modal, Tencel, silk, or polyester with elastane are often used, which positively influence drape, stretch, and wearing feel.
Typical types of fabrics:
- Viscose jersey and modal jersey
- Cotton jersey and rib jersey
- Crêpe and satin qualities
- Lace and tulle
- Stretch fabrics with elastane
Important properties:
Top fabrics are lightweight, soft, and depending on the quality, stretchy or flowing. Many qualities are skin-friendly, breathable, and suitable for tank tops, camisoles, spaghetti strap tops, bandeau tops, blouse tops, and festive tops. Stretch qualities adapt to the body shape, while fluid materials create an elegant silhouette. When working with jersey, a jersey needle and an elastic stitch are recommended so that seams remain tidy.
Care instructions:
Top fabrics should be washed gently according to the material, preferably on a gentle cycle at 30 to 40 degrees. Delicate qualities such as silk, lace, or satin often only tolerate hand washing or dry cleaning. Only iron at low temperature, and preferably from the reverse side or with a cloth. Dryer heat, strong spinning, and aggressive detergents should be avoided so that color, shape, and surface are preserved.
