Weave - Voile
Voile is the fabric for airiness, light, and a fine, elegant transparency. Many designers love voile because it is lightweight and still has a clean, high-quality appearance. Ideal for delicate layers and bright, airy looks. (More...)
Voile is a very light, fine fabric, often made of cotton or blends, with a slightly transparent effect and a soft drape. The surface appears calm and clear, so colors and prints look very attractive. Voile is suitable for blouses, light dresses, summer items, scarves, and also for curtains and decorative projects when lightness is desired. Depending on the density, voile can be more transparent or somewhat more opaque.
Typical fabric types:
• Cotton voile
• Viscose voile
• Voile blends
• Printed voile
• Voile with texture depending on quality
Important properties:
Very light, airy and often slightly transparent. Soft drape and comfortable to wear. Looks clear and fine, not heavy. Depending on quality, more delicate and requires gentle handling.
Care instructions:
Gentle wash cycle, low temperature, little spinning and air dry. Iron at low to medium heat and preferably inside out. A laundry bag may be useful to avoid pulled threads. For very fine qualities, consider dry cleaning.
