Zusammensetzung - Lurex
Lurex is the abbreviation for the moment when a fabric suddenly stands out under the light. Many designers use Lurex, because even a small amount of shine instantly enhances a look. Ideal for accents that shimmer elegantly without immediately looking like sequins.
Lurex refers to effect threads with a metallic shimmer that are incorporated into woven or knitted fabrics. Depending on the proportion, this creates either a subtle shine or a distinct sparkle, often with an interesting texture. Lurex can be found in many base fabrics, from jersey and jacquard to knits, making its fields of application very broad. It's important to note that Lurex threads can be more delicate, and friction or improper care becomes visible more quickly.
Typical fabric types:
• Lurex jersey
• Lurex knit
• Lurex jacquard
• Lurex mesh
• Lurex blends
Important properties:
Shimmering appearance that looks very vibrant depending on the light. May feel a little firmer or scratchier, depending on the base fabric and proportion. Often shape-retentive but more sensitive to friction and pulled threads. Perfect for festive accents and highlights.
Care instructions:
Wash very gently, low temperature, and in a laundry bag. Do not spin hard, air dry. Iron only from the reverse side and at low heat, preferably use steam. Avoid friction so the effect threads are not damaged.
