Patchwork fabrics are usually high-quality cotton fabrics that are specially designed for use in patchwork and quilting projects. They typically come in a fabric width of about 110 cm and are offered as printed, solid, patterned or designer series. Depending on the print and design, patchwork fabrics can appear playful, modern, vintage or classic and are suitable for quilts, blankets, cushions, bags, clothing and creative decorative items.
Typical fabric types:
- Printed cotton patchwork fabrics
- Solid cotton fabrics for patchwork
- Batik fabrics and color gradients
- Themed fabrics and designer patchwork fabrics
- Fat quarters, jelly rolls and fabric bundles
Important properties:
Patchwork fabrics are skin-friendly, dimensionally stable and can be cut and sewn precisely. The usually pure cotton keeps seams neat, shows colors clearly and is pleasant to work with. Depending on the print and series, the fabrics appear calm and solid or playful with patterns, flowers, checks or graphic designs. Good patchwork fabrics are easy to iron, retain their shape and are ideal for quilting, sewing and creative projects.
Care instructions:
Patchwork fabrics are generally easy to care for, but should be washed before processing so that color and size become stable. Gentle washing at 30 to 40 degrees and appropriate temperatures preserve colors and prints. Iron best when slightly damp and at medium heat so that seams and edges stay neat. High temperatures, harsh detergents and tumble drying should be avoided.
