Pique is a woven or knitted fabric with a characteristic, textured surface, often visible as a waffle or grain pattern. Pique is frequently made of cotton or blends, offering a pleasant wear comfort and good breathability. The structure makes the fabric more tangible and stable than smooth types and can visually conceal small wrinkles. Pique is often used for polo shirts, shirts, dresses, and sporty blazers, depending on weight also for structured homewear.
Typical fabric types:
• Cotton pique
• Pique blends
• Stretch pique
• Waffle-look pique
• Heavyweight pique
Important properties:
Textured surface, tangible and usually more dimensionally stable than smooth jersey. Breathable depending on cotton content. The look is sporty, neat, and durable. Depending on quality, it can be elastic or rather stable.
Care instructions:
Gentle cycle, low temperature, air-drying preserves the structure. Iron moderately, better to steam for textured fabrics. Do not wash or dry too hot for stretch items. Turn inside out to preserve finishes and colors.
