Weave - Bonded
Bonded fabrics are ideal when a piece needs to have shape, stability, and a high-quality feel. Many designers use bonded materials because they look modern and maintain very clean silhouettes. Perfect for structured looks that still remain wearable.
Bonded means that two layers are firmly connected to each other, making the fabric more compact and stable. Depending on the construction, the outer surface can appear smooth, textured, or technical, while the inner side is softer or more functional. Bonded fabrics are often used when more structure, less transparency, or more protection is desired in everyday life. The quality is suitable for jackets, coats, vests, bags, and structured parts where clear lines are important.
Typical fabric types:
• Bonded jersey
• Bonded softshell
• Bonded wool qualities
• Bonded faux leather look
• Bonded mixed fabrics
Important properties:
More structure and shape stability due to the two-layer construction. Often less sensitive to wrinkling and stable in silhouette. Depending on the construction, the fabric can be more wind-repellent or provide more warmth. The edge can appear neat depending on the bonding; processing strongly depends on the material combination.
Care instructions:
Be sure to observe care instructions, as bonding can react to heat and aggressive care. Low temperatures, gentle spin, and air drying are usually safe. Iron only carefully and not too hot; if in doubt, only steam. Fabric softener can impair the bond and function in some qualities.
