Use - Eveningwear
Evening wear thrives on fabrics that catch the light and drape elegantly with every movement. That is why many designers choose special surfaces such as satin, silk, velvet, tulle, or lace, as they instantly appear festive and high-quality.
Here you will find qualities ranging from fluid to structured, from subtly shiny to glamorous, ideal for elegant silhouettes and special details. (More...)
In the evening wear category, fabrics are in focus that stand out due to their sheen, texture, transparency, or drape. Common fabric types include satin, silk, chiffon, tulle, organza, taffeta, velvet, lace, jacquard, and fabrics with sequins, lurex, or a metallic effect. Depending on the quality, the materials are suitable for soft flowing looks, more volume and structure, or for striking accents through surface and light reflections.
Typical fabric types:
• Satin, duchesse, taffeta
• Silk, chiffon, organza
• Tulle, mesh
• Velvet, velour
• Lace, guipure
• Sequin fabric, glitter fabric, lurex fabric, metallic fabric
• Jacquard, brocade
Important properties:
Evening fabrics are, depending on the material, softly draping or deliberately shape-retaining. Many qualities appear particularly elegant due to their sheen, texture, or transparency, for example with chiffon, organza, tulle, and lace. Blends with elastane are often chosen when comfort and fit are important.
Care instructions:
Many evening fabrics are delicate, especially silk, velvet, lace, and sequin fabrics. Professional cleaning is often safest, alternatively hand wash or gentle cycle at low temperature, depending on the material. Iron with low heat, preferably inside out; for very delicate fabrics, it is better to steam than to press.
