Weave - Crêpe
Crepe is perfect when a fabric should appear elegant but not too smooth and stiff. Many designers love crepe because the fine texture looks high-quality and minor wrinkles are less noticeable. Ideal for modern looks with understated elegance.
Crepe refers to fabrics with a slightly grainy, lively surface and a drape that is usually soft to controlled. Many crepe qualities appear matte and add depth without patterns, making cuts look especially elegant. Depending on the fiber, crepe can be very flowing or have a bit more structure, allowing for different silhouettes. Crepe is often chosen when a fabric is supposed to look well-groomed in everyday life and still have movement.
Typical fabric types:
• Viscose crepe
• Polyester crepe
• Wool crepe
• Crepe with elastane
• Crepe satin look depending on quality
Important properties:
Crepe appears less prone to wrinkling, as the structure visually breaks up small folds. The surface is usually matte and high-quality, with an elegant drape. Depending on the blend, the fabric is more breathable or easier to care for. Many qualities have good resilience and stay in shape longer.
Care instructions:
Use a gentle cycle at low temperatures and little spinning, then shape and air dry. When ironing, it is better to steam than to press hard, to preserve the structure. For delicate fibers or very high-quality crepe qualities, professional cleaning is recommended. Reduce friction to avoid pilling.
