Use - Pullover / Knitwear
Sweater fabrics are the quality choice for designs that are meant to be cozy, warm, and comfortable to wear. Many designers opt for sweater fabrics because they feel soft on the skin, stretch well, and can be worn confidently for both basics and statement pieces. Ideal if you are looking for comfortable materials with structure and a modern look for sweaters, cardigans, and knitwear. (More...)
Pullover fabrics are mostly knitted and sweat materials that are naturally stretchy and pleasantly warm due to their looped structure. Depending on the finish, they can appear fine and fluid, coarse and textured, or cuddly and fluffy, for example as fine knit, chunky knit, jacquard, or sweat. Mixtures of cotton, wool, viscose, polyester, and elastane are often used, which positively influence warmth, wearing comfort, and shape retention.
Typical fabric types:
- Fine knit and flat knit
- Chunky knit and big knit
- Jacquard knits with cable or rib pattern
- Sweat and French terry
- Wool knit and knit fleece
Key features:
Pullover fabrics are soft, stretchy, and depending on the quality, light and flowing or warm and voluminous. Many qualities have a pleasant feel and are suitable for pullovers, cardigans, knitted dresses, hoodies, scarves, and cozy loungewear. The knit structure makes them elastic and form-fitting, but knitted fabrics should be sewn with a jersey needle and elastic stitches so that the seams hold up well.
Care instructions:
Pullover fabrics should be washed gently according to the material, ideally on a wool or delicate cycle at low temperature. Avoid tumble drying and vigorous spinning, and dry flat to maintain shape. Iron only lightly and with steam or just steam to preserve the knit structure. For wool or mohair content, hand washing or professional cleaning is often the safer choice.
