Weave - Twill variant
Twill variants are the quality choice for designs that are intended to appear structured, high-quality, and with a distinctive woven character. Many designers choose twill variants because they combine the robustness of twill weave with unique patterns and textures. Ideal if you are looking for fabrics with classic twill weaves and special looks for coats, suits, jackets, or home textiles. (More...)
Twill variants are fabrics woven based on the classic twill weave but further developed through modifications such as changing directions, multiple weave passes, or special yarns. This creates weaves like herringbone, cross twill, multiple twill, or diagonal twill, which appear visually much more sophisticated than the classic twill. Materials such as wool, cotton, polyester, viscose, or blends are often used.
Typical fabric types:
- Herringbone (herringbone pattern)
- Cross twill
- Multiple twill
- Diagonal twill
- Pointed twill
Important characteristics:
Twill variants are dimensionally stable, durable and, thanks to their special weave, particularly visually appealing. Depending on the variant, they appear warm and strong, fine and elegant, or graphically structured and are suitable for coats, suits, blazers, trousers, skirts, and upholstery fabrics. The weave ensures a pleasant feel, lively surface, and very good workability.
Care instructions:
Twill variants should be cared for appropriately depending on the material to maintain the weave, shape, and color. Wool qualities usually only tolerate hand washing or dry cleaning; cotton and blend qualities often allow for a gentle cycle at 30 to 40 degrees. Iron with steam, from the reverse side, or use a pressing cloth.
