Weave - Chiffon
Chiffon is the type of fabric for lightness, movement, and a delicate, elegant look. Many designers love chiffon because it works beautifully with walking and turning, instantly making every piece look more refined. Ideal for layering, transparency, and flowing silhouettes.
Chiffon is very light and often transparent, with a soft drape and a fine, slightly grainy surface. Depending on the fiber, chiffon can appear matte or slightly shimmering, but it is always airy. Due to its low weight, it is particularly suitable for layers, ruffles, sleeves, and flowing sections. When processing, chiffon can be slippery, but its visual effect is very elegant.
Typical fabric types:
• Polyester chiffon
• Silk chiffon
• Textured chiffon
• Printed chiffon
• Chiffon in heavier quality
Important properties:
Chiffon is airy, light, and drapes softly. Transparency is typical, making layering and details look especially elegant. The fabric adds movement to the look and appears very feminine. Depending on the quality, it is more sensitive to pulls and friction.
Care instructions:
Wash very gently, preferably in a laundry bag and at a low temperature. Spin only a little and air dry. Iron only at low heat and preferably steam, do not press. For very fine qualities or silk, dry cleaning is often the safest choice.
