Weave - Bi-stretch
Bi-Stretch is the quality for cuts that need to sit precisely and still allow free movement. Many designers love Bi-Stretch because it offers comfort and a clear, neat look at the same time. Ideal for modern silhouettes that work in everyday life and have a high-quality appearance. (More...)
Bi-stretch describes fabrics that are elastic in both directions, making them especially comfortable to wear and quick to recover their shape. Depending on the base fabric, the surface can appear very smooth and clean or slightly textured; the drape usually remains controlled and tidy. Bi-stretch is often chosen when fit needs to remain stable and bagging should be reduced. Depending on the weight, the quality is suitable for lightweight to distinctly shape-giving models.
Typical types of fabric:
• Bi-stretch Twill
• Bi-stretch Gabardine
• Bi-stretch suiting qualities
• Bi-stretch crepe qualities
• Bi-stretch blended fabrics
Main characteristics:
Bi-stretch provides mobility and at the same time dimensional stability, since the fabric recovers well. Many qualities are less prone to wrinkling and stay neat longer. The elasticity supports figure-hugging cuts without the look becoming soft or saggy. Depending on the blend, breathability and feel vary.
Care instructions:
Wash gently and avoid high heat to preserve elasticity and recovery. Air drying is usually better than tumble drying. Iron at moderate heat; steaming is preferable to pressing. For high-quality fabrics or delicate surfaces, dry cleaning is often the safer option.
