Weave - Twill
Twill is the quality that many designers love because it appears reliable while looking very high-quality. The fine diagonal structure adds depth without being loud, and the fabric holds its shape. Ideal for pieces that stand up to everyday use and still look elegant. (More...)
Twill is a fabric with a characteristic diagonal weave, which often makes the material stable, firm, and durable. Depending on the fiber, twill can look very clean and smooth or a bit softer and more natural, but the drape generally remains controlled. Twill is often used for trousers, skirts, jackets, blazers, and also for shirts when a more robust and shape-retaining quality is desired. Weight and density determine whether twill is lightweight and wearable or distinctly structure-giving.
Typical fabric types:
• Cotton twill
• Wool twill
• Twill blends
• Stretch twill
• Tencel twill, depending on the range
Important characteristics:
Shape-retaining, durable, and often less prone to creasing than plain weaves. Diagonal structure appears high-quality and conceals small wrinkles. Depending on the blend, good recovery and pleasant feel. Very versatile and long-lasting.
Care instructions:
Care according to fiber; many cotton twills are washable, wool twills should be cleaned. Low temperatures protect color and shape, air drying is often better. Iron at medium heat, for dark colors iron inside out. Do not wash or dry stretch fabrics too hot.
