Weave - Bouclé
Boucle is the type of fabric that looks designer simply because of its surface. Many designers choose Boucle because even a simple cut immediately gains depth, character, and quality. It's ideal if you are looking for a structure that looks elegant and doesn’t have to be loud. (More...)
Bouclé is a structured fabric with loops and knots that can be voluminous, soft, or textured depending on its quality. Due to its lively surface, the fabric appears especially high-quality and often visually hides small wrinkles better. Bouclé is often used for pieces that are meant to have presence without the need for much additional processing. Depending on the yarn and density, bouclé can appear warmer or lighter.
Typical fabric types:
• Wool bouclé
• Bouclé blends
• Bouclé tweed look
• Bouclé with effect yarn
• Bouclé in light quality
Important properties:
Bouclé is richly textured and looks very high-quality, often with good body. The surface adds depth and conceals irregularities. Depending on its quality, bouclé can be sensitive to friction, but is visually distinctive. It usually has a controlled drape rather than a fluid one.
Care instructions:
Avoid friction and do not pull loose threads. Cleaning is often recommended, especially for wool bouclé. When ironing, only steam gently and use a cloth to avoid flattening the texture. Prefer to treat stains locally and do not rub strongly.
