Designer fabrics by technical properties

Not only the appearance determines whether a fabric suits a design, but also its technical properties. Important criteria include, for example, wrinkle resistance, stretch, opacity, breathability, shape retention, or robustness. At Armbrüster Wholesale Fabrics, Italian designer fabrics can be specifically selected according to these requirements.

A cut only looks harmonious if the fabric technically matches it. Should a model stay smooth, move with the body, or carry a clean silhouette? Such questions often determine the quality of the result, often more than color or pattern.

Wrinkle-resistant fabrics for a well-groomed look

Wrinkle-resistant fabrics are suitable for models that should look smooth and calm even after longer wear. This is especially in demand for business fashion, travel wardrobes, and evening wear. Qualities like crepe, microfiber, or Romanit keep their shape longer well-groomed.

Stretch fabrics for comfort and fit

As soon as fitted silhouettes or freedom of movement are needed, stretch fabrics come into play. They fit closely to the body without hindering movement. Jersey, Romanit, or Techno Jersey give cuts more mobility.

Opaque fabrics for secure designs

Opaque fabrics are important when transparency is not desired. They make dresses, skirts, and trousers appear more closed and professional. Dense satin, doubleface, or bouclé provide security here.

Why our Italian designer fabrics are technically convincing

Our fabrics come mainly from Italy and were developed for high-quality fashion. Many are designer deadstock from limited stocks and combine technical function with high-end appearance. Because properties such as drape, stretch, or opacity are best assessed directly, our field sales representative brings sample pieces of all fabrics to an appointment so you can check them at your leisure.

Frequently asked questions about technical fabric properties

Which fabrics are wrinkle-resistant?

Especially wrinkle-resistant are crepe, microfiber, Romanit as well as viscose and polyester blends with some elastane. They remain smooth even after long wear and are suitable for business fashion, travel wardrobes, and evening wear.

Which fabrics are stretchy?

Stretchy are jerseys in their variants, Romanit, Techno Jersey, scuba, elastic woven fabrics, and stretch denim. They support fitted cuts and offer freedom of movement.

Which fabrics are opaque?

Opaque, for example, are dense satin, Romanit, heavier viscose qualities, coat fabrics, doubleface as well as bouclé and tweed. They make models look more closed and calm.

Which fabrics are breathable?

Breathable are mainly natural fibers such as cotton, viscose, modal, silk, wool, and linen. They feel pleasant on the skin and regulate heat well.

Which fabrics are shape-retaining for tailoring?

For tailoring and clean contours, shape-retaining fabrics such as jacquard, brocade, doubleface, and Techno Jersey are suitable. They keep their shape and enable clean edges.

How do I select fabrics by technical properties?

First consider what the model should achieve: stay wrinkle-free, stretch, be opaque, or retain its shape. Choose the fabric accordingly. The safest way is to check the properties on the original.

Can I test the fabrics on site?

Yes. At a field service appointment, our representative brings samples of all fabrics. This allows you to check on site how a material drapes, stretches, wrinkles, or appears opaque. You can order the qualities by the meter starting from 6 meters per fabric.

Most of our fabrics are made from valuable natural fibers. In the spring/summer collections, you’ll find beautifully delicate, fine-threaded cotton fabrics, elegant linen, silk, and the finest virgin wool fabrics. Our wholesale range for the autumn/winter collections offers fabrics made from similar materials, but generally warmer, heavier, and more focused on wool fabrics. Virgin wool fabrics are often blended here with cotton, silk, angora, mohair, or cashmere. Each collection also includes fabrics made from high-quality synthetic and microfibers, often designed as functional fabrics for outdoor clothing.
